Overview

Ana is a childhood cancer initiative that falls under Friends of Cancer Patients’ umbrella “Kashf” for early detection of cancer. The initiative came to light in November 2014 under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed  Al  Qasimi,  Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients.

Ana, which means ‘I’ in English, has been specifically named to encourage patients of childhood cancer celebrate their individuality irrespective of their physical appearance.

ANA aims to:

1. Enhance the lives of paediatric cancer patients and their families.
2. Ana seeks to raise awareness about the seven common warning signs of childhood cancer and highlight the importance of early detection.

Ana-vation

Falling under the Ana initiative, Ana-vation; a mix of the words “Ana” and “innovation”, is a one-of-a-kind initiative raising awareness through fun, educational activities such as the innovative DIY robotic kits, App development etc. which highlights the importance of early detection for childhood cancer, through applying the core S.T.E.A.M. concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) and codings to inspire future developers, researchers, doctors & engineers.

Through the 3rd Ana-vation competition FOCP empowers 150 students in app development programme to combat childhood cancer,
which helps students their app development skills and learn how to provide innovative solutions for the modern world, and at the same time, raise awareness between them and their families on childhood cancer.

The app will aim to solve a challenge related to a real world need for our cancer patients.

Ana-vation aims to:

Ana-Nutrition

Ana-nutrition is an activation that emphasizes on the importance of a healthy lifestyle by conducting little workshops that teach kids how to make delectable, healthy snacks while engaging with parents on the early signs and symptoms of childhood cancer and the importance of good nutrition.
