The Story

Friends of Cancer Patients Society (FOCP) is a charitable, volunteer-based foundation operating as a specialized entity under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah. 

FOCP was established during 1999 in accordance with the directives and under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed AI-Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and wife of the Ruler of Sharjah & Federal Supreme Council Member His Royal Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi.

A group of dynamic and visionary women formed the founding board of FOCP with a strong vision to implement change in the UAE community through progressive thinking, education and awareness about cancer.

Friends of Cancer Patients, over the last decade have formed a strong foundation in which the charity continues to foster, and develop stronger coalition building across government, private sectors and NGO’s alikeproviding a platform of positive collaboration and exchange of knowledge, information, resources and professional skills.

As a charitable organisation FOCP have been able to provide financial and emotional support to over 500 patients across the UAE. FOCPiscommitted to all residents of the UAE without discrimination or prejudice against race, religion or cultural background. The charity is here, first and foremost to provide guidance in the form of practical, financial, moral, educational and medical support for cancer patients and their loved ones who have been affected by cancer.

FOCP is constantly raising the bar and setting new targets to expand on its achievementsto date by continuing to empower the community to change family perception and cultural reservations about cancer.

FOCP believe strongly in programmes that encourage and promote early detection in order to improve cancer outcome and survival. Knowledge is power in the fight against cancer.
