  For almost three decades, Her Highness, Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs has played a pivotal role in the social development of women in Sharjah. Starting from 1982, Her Highness has initiated dynamic and innovative organizations and programs, which continue to this day to inspire and empower families, and most specifically women. Her proactive efforts have borne fruit in the creation of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in 2000, which oversees many organizations which serve children, youth, and families. Whether it is social issues, cultural activities, health awareness, sports tournaments or starting up of small to medium businesses, Her Highness has a vision for everything which has an impact on the lives of families, and ensures that her organizations serve the community's needs.
