In collaboration with Dubai Hospital Friends of Cancer Patients hosts open day for children

    The Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) organized a special open day for children with cancer at the Department of Pediatrics in Dubai Hospital.

    The event, called “Day of Fun”, was organized in collaboration with Dana Al Askari Alami and Janeen Fraiha, volunteers at the FoCP, who initiated the idea for such an event which takes place every Tuesday.

    The day’s program, organized by Favourite Things Mother and Child, featured a number of recreational activities including games, competitions and songs, all of which were conducted under the supervision of specialists.

    Children got to take part in the various activities and were treated with gifts at the end of the day.   

    The event was attended by Sawsan Jaafar, Founding member of FoCP, HE Ameera Bin Karam, founding member and Chairperson of the FoCP’s Board of Trustees, Ms. Cecile Guillemot, Chairperson of the Pink Caravan Higher Committee, as well as Laila Haddad, Head of the Department of Social Services at Dubai Hospital, Dr. Abdurahman Al Hussein, Pediatrics Consultant at Dubai Hospital, and Dr Hussain Abdul Rahman, Director of Medical Affairs at Dubai Hospital.

     

    On the occasion, HE Ameera Bin Karam, said: “Such events contribute to providing children who suffer from cancer with the psychological and emotional support they need to help them recover swiftly and with fewer ill effects.”

    She noted that hosting such activities highlights the need to provide all forms of support to this category of children to help contain the disease, strengthen the social fabric, and promote the principle of social solidarity and issues of social responsibility.

    “I would like to praise all national efforts that stand behind the success of our various events dedicated to supporting children with cancer, and would especially like to thank Dubai Hospital, Dana Askari, and Sahara Communications Group for their ongoing support for our noble humanitarian mission in the service of the most important category - today’s children.”

    On her part, Laila Haddad  said: “These important activities are among the key interests of Dubai Hospital and its management policy. Our hospital is always among the first institutions to support such activities - a fact that reflects the strong belief of our board of directors in social, cultural and humanitarian responsibility in strengthening the hospital’s leading moral role.”

    She highlighted the hospital’s complete commitment to the sound directives of the country's leaders and its commitment to the advancement of childhood living, health and humanitarian conditions in the best possible means.

    Lauding the initiative, parents of the young cancer patients considered it a positive sign that would have a significant impact on improving the health condition of their children.

    They expressed their appreciation for the UAE’s unlimited efforts and care for people with cancer, confirming these efforts as the reason the country has become one of the world leaders in containing the effects of the disease and alleviating the suffering of cancer patients and their families.
